Lisa Doyle
Chancellor, VA Acquisition Academy
Veterans Affairs Department

The work:  Training veterans to be the next generation of contracting specialists.

The impact:  The academy is enhancing VA’s ability to manage complex contracts while creating career opportunities for the country’s veterans.

The nuts and bolts:  Doyle has played a key role in two programs aimed at easing veterans’ transition into the civilian workforce:  Warriors to Workforce, under which VA hires severely wounded veterans and helps them become professionally certified contract specialists, and the interagency Vets to Feds Career Development Program in Contracting, which recruits and trains veterans for acquisition careers with the federal government.
