The Facilities Management School (FMS) is pleased to offer courses at the VA Acquisition Academy (VAAA) in Frederick, MD.  These courses can also be delivered at your location upon request.  Most course registration is available through the Federal Acquisition Institute Training Application System (FAITAS).  Register for an account or sign into FAITAS at External link to a government website.

Due to travel processing time, please try and begin your registration 45-60 days in advance of the course start date.  To register for a FMS Course in FAITAS, both you and your supervisor must have a FAITAS account for approval.  For more information regarding course information or how to enroll, please contact FMS at

Available Resident Courses (Field Funded)

FMS provides several instructor-led, face-to-face courses to teach best practices in the general operation and maintenance of VA buildings.  These courses provide instruction in topics that are essential to the proper maintenance and efficiency of VA buildings, including, but not limited to:

  • Building Automation Systems
  • Electrical Safety:  An Overview of National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) 70, NFPA 70E, and Shock/Arc Flash Protection
  • Medical Gas Systems
  • NFPA Codes Including NFPA 101 and NFPA 99

Funding for these courses must be provided by the requesting facility.
