Course Registration - VA Employees

Register for classes

The following instructions will be used to enroll in training for FAC P/PM training.  You may also refer to the appropriate tab in the Course Schedule spreadsheet for program training.


Step 1 — Determine Your Current P/PM Level of Experience and Knowledge

  • Ensure you have read the information from the “What’s The Right Level For Me“ page.
  • The following are the courses necessary to fulfill the training requirements for the Entry, Mid and Senior Level Certifications.  Mid and Senior Level boot camps contain the first three courses prior to the Capstone.

    • Entry Level
      • FPM 120A - Project Management Basics
      • FPM 120B - Project Management and Project Lifecycle
      • FPM 121 - Entry Level - FAC-P/PM Resident Course (5 days)
    • Mid Level
      • FPM 260 - Mid Level - Concept Definition (4 days)
      • FPM 261 - Mid Level - Concept Planning (5 days)
      • FPM 262 - Mid Level - Development through Closeout (5 days)
    • Senior Level
      • FAC-P/PM Introduction:  FPM 370/560 (90 minute webinar followed by an on-line self-assessment)
      • FAC-P/PM Pre-Course:  FPM 371/561 (90 minute webinar followed by virtual coursework with due times/dates)
      • FAC-P/PM Senior-Level Course:  FPM 372/562 (10 day, face-to-face)

Step 2 — Create an Account (If you have not completed)

To access course dates and register for courses, search for the course ID number in the Federal Acquisition Institute Training Application System (FAITAS) and follow directions for registration.  If you and your supervisor have not created a FAITAS user account, you must create your accounts prior to registering for Program Management School courses.  Registering in FAITAS can be accomplished in theses quick easy steps!!

  1. Visit External link to a government website.
  2. Read the U.S. Government Information System warning and click ‘I Agree.’
  3. Click the ‘Register Here’ link on the log-in screen.
  4. Enter your Federal Email address and click ‘Register.’
  5. Follow the instructions in the confirmation email from; click the link provided.
  6. NOTE I:  If you do not receive the automated email within 15 minutes, e-mail and in the subject line type “automated email.”
  7. Complete Registration Information and Security Questions, click ‘Continue Registration.’
  8. Update required Profile fields and click ‘Create Profile.’

Step 3 — Register for Courses

  1. Log into FAITAS.
  2. Navigate to Manage Career | Training | Course Catalog.
  3. Select the VA - Veterans Affairs teaching school from the Teaching School drop down list and click the View Catalog button.  The Course Catalog screen updates with a listing of offered courses and the class schedule for all schools in the VA Acquisition academy.
  4. Type “PPM” in the courses offered filter box to identify Program/Project Management School courses.
  5. Click the Course Number to view the course description (if available).
  6. Click the blue “i” icon located on the right side of the Course Title yellow bar to display a modal window that includes the Course Details, Course Scope, Prerequisites, and Teaching School Notice (if available) for the selected course.  To return to the Course Catalog screen, close the modal window.
  7. Click the Apply button to create a new training request.
