Who is Eligible to Register?

Members of the acquisition workforce from other government agencies (OGAs) who have met the course prerequisites and received both their supervisor and organizational approval are eligible to submit a registration request.  VAAA courses are available to non-VA employees for a fee dependent on space availability.  Please contact the Office of the Registrar for pricing information at or (240) 215-0771.

VAAA also offers dedicated training at your facility for groups of 20 participants or more.  For information on dedicated training, email  You may also refer to the appropriate tab in the Course Schedule spreadsheet for program training.

Course Registration Process

To access course dates and register for VAAA courses, search for the course ID number in the Federal Acquisition Institute Training Application System (FAITAS) and follow directions for registration.  If you and your supervisor have not created a FAITAS user account, you must create your accounts prior to registering for VAAA courses.  Registering in FAITAS can be accomplished in theses quick easy steps!!

  1. Visit External link to a government website.
  2. Read the U.S. Government Information System warning and click ‘I Agree.’
  3. Click the ‘Register Here’ link on the log-in screen.
  4. Enter your Federal Email address and click ‘Register.’
  5. Follow the instructions in the confirmation email from; click the link provided.
  6. NOTE I:  If you do not receive the automated email within 15 minutes, e-mail and in the subject line type “automated email.”
  7. Complete Registration Information and Security Questions, click ‘Continue Registration.’
  8. Update required Profile fields and click ‘Create Profile.’

Register for Class Offerings

  1. Log into FAITAS at FAITAS Login and Navigate to Manage Career | Training | Course Catalog.
  2. Select the VA - Veterans Affairs teaching school from the Teaching School drop down list and click the View Catalog button.  The Course Catalog screen updates with a listing of offered courses and the class schedule for all schools in the VA Acquisition academy.
  3. Click the Course Number to view the course description (if available).
  4. Click the blue “i” icon located on the right side of the Course Title yellow bar to display a modal window that includes the Course Details, Course Scope, Prerequisites, and Teaching School Notice (if available) for the selected course.  To return to the Course Catalog screen, close the modal window.
  5. Click the Apply button to create a new training request.
  6. You will be contacted by the VAAA Office of the Registrar OGA representative with course pricing information and process for submitting payment.  Any questions please contact the VAAA OGA representative at

Make Travel Plans if Attending in Person

If attending in-person, courses are held at the VA Acquisition Academy.  Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Course specific times and dates will be outlined in the enrollment confirmations.  Address, directions, lodging, restaurant, and transportation information can be found in the margin on the right.

Complete Pre-Course Assignments

Some courses may have mandatory pre-course assignments that are part of your grade.  If the course you are taking has pre-course assignments, you will receive information about the assignments in an email prior to the start of your course.  Please follow the instructions provided and make sure you complete the assignment as required.

Funding Information

You may pay with a purchase card, SF-182, or MIPR.

Non-DoD Agencies:  Pay with a purchase card or complete an SF-182 and include the following supplemental information:

  • Agency Location Code (ALC)
  • Treasury Account Symbol (TAS)
  • PO Number and/or Obligation Document Number
  • Field Station Number (FSN)
  • Appropriation/Accounting Classification

DoD Agencies:  Pay with a credit card or complete a Military Interdepartmental Purchase Request (MIPR) For questions about financing, email

Successful Course Completion

Students must fully attend, complete all coursework, and receive a passing grade to earn a course completion certificate.  All certificates will be sent out via email too all students within 10 business days after successful course completion.
