W2W Interested Candidates

Each year, W2W candidates are hired using Veterans Recruitment Appointment (VRA).  Once the candidate is hired, he or she reports to the VA Acquisition Academy in Frederick, MD to begin training.


  • Candidates for the program must have a high school diploma (or equivalent) with little to no post-secondary education (i.e. no bachelor’s degree and with a maximum of six business credits).
  • Candidates must be eligible for hire under the Veterans’ Recruitment Appointment (VRA) Authority External link to a government website.

Conditions of Employment

  • Flexibility to move for training in Frederick, MD.
  • Must sign a Continuing Service Agreement (CSA) to maintain employment with the VA for a period of three years after training completion.
  • Must sign a Mobility Statement in order to participate in the program. Final job placement will be at a VA contracting organization within the U.S. (location based on needs of the VA).

How to be Considered

  • Email your updated resume to vaaaw2w@va.gov for program consideration.  W2W is an annual program which kicks off a new cohort in early September each year at the VA Acquisition Academy located in Frederick, MD.
  • Your resume will be reviewed in the order it’s received.  If you are being considered for the program, W2W staff will contact you for additional information and you may be scheduled for an initial screening.  In addition to your resume, please be prepared to provide:
    • Your high school and/or college transcripts.
    • Your DD-214.
    • Your VA disability letter.  (Please do not send monetary award amounts or a letter with specific medical information.  A sanitized VA letter can be found by accessing your eBenefits account.)
    • A W2W questionnaire (will be emailed to you upon consideration of your resume).
