The Program Management School was created to address the development requirements from the Office of Management and Budget mandate to certify all federal government program and project managers.
After completing the training, participants receive the federally-recognized FAC-P/PM certification, which is also recognized to meet the training requirements for the Program Management Professional certification from the Program Management Institute.
The Program Management School is a strategic partner in the effort to implement best-in-class program and project management in the Department of Veterans Affairs and throughout government.
The Project Management (PM) Fellows Program at the Department of Veterans Affairs Acquisition Academy (VAAA) in Frederick, Maryland, is now accepting applications for the next class beginning Fall 2014. This program is specifically designed to go beyond the traditional Federal Acquisition Certification in Program/Project Management (FAC-P/PM) by building and reinforcing critical PM and leadership skills within specialty tracks. The program will accelerate the development and application of PM skills for VA professionals entering the project management field. Interested applicants are not required to possess previous PM experience or training to apply. Members of the inaugural PM Fellows cohort are already reporting successful impacts on their organization. Those interested in participating in the cohorts beginning Fall 2014 should contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
NOTICE: Earn CLPs by referring PM Fellows Candidates!
All FAC-P/PM certified individuals must complete 80 CLPs every two years to maintain their certification. The Project Management (PM) Fellows Program at the Veterans Affairs Acquisition Academy (VAAA) is now offering Continuous Learning Points (CLPs) to all FAC-P/PM certified individuals that refer an applicant to the PM Fellows Program! Demonstrate your leadership and personal development skills by identifying viable candidates for the PM Fellows Program and be rewarded with CLPs when they enroll! Please visit the PM Fellows Program section for more information.
The VAAA Program Management School has replaced the original Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) courses with an improved Government Off-The-Shelf (GOTS) course curriculum. Those individuals who have completed two or more (COTS) FAC-P/PM courses but did not finish the training series, still have an opportunity to obtain certification. The PM School has identified two GOTS courses intended to serve as equivalents/substitutions to the original COTS training requirements: Concept Planning (CP) & Development & Implementation (D&I).
Therefore, those COTS participants who have only completed two courses will need to register for CP, and then for D&I before completing the Capstone course. Those who require only one more course will need to register and complete the CP course before Capstone. Finally, those who have completed four courses can register for Capstone at any time.
