The Contracting Professional School (CPS) provides the acquisition workforce with a variety of options for maintaining certification.  Please see below for more information about our range of offerings.  The CPS Course Descriptions have details on the content for each course.

Construction Contracting

Courses in the construction track provide an overview of this specialized area of contracting and cover PL 92-582, the Brooks Architect-Engineers Act, as well as the spectrum of issues associated with acquisition planning through and including the closeout process.  VAAA Construction-related classes include:  CON 243 - Architect-Engineer Services Contracting, CON 244 - Construction Contracting, and FQN 104 - Construction Claims.  The delivery method for these offerings is face-to-face instruction.

Foundational Learning for Contracting Professionals (FLCP) Courses

Foundational Learning courses focus on enhancing key professional competencies, as identified by the Federal Acquisition Institute (FAI).  The delivery method for these courses involves a combination of face-to-face & online training.

Leasing

The VA has significant resources invested in leased space across the nation including direct leases and GSA space assignments.  The VAAA leasing curriculum is comprised of five courses designed to provide the student with a sound basis for writing, analyzing, and negotiating VA leases.  Specific classes include:  FCN 406 - Lease Acquisition Training (LAT), FCN 408 - Cost and Price Analysis of Lease Proposals, FCN 409 - Techniques of Negotiating Federal Real Property Leases, FCN 411 - Federal Real Property Lease Law and FCN 412 - Lease Administration.  The delivery method for these offerings is face-to-face instruction.

Role-Based Competencies in Context (RBCC) Courses

The RBCC offerings provide training in key strategic business operating skills, based on competency profiles for the journeyman contracting officer, supervisory contracting officer, and the managerial contracting officer.  The delivery method for these courses involves a combination of face-to-face & online training.

Skill-Building Workshops

Using case studies and contracting simulations, students have the opportunity to put theory into practice, in demonstrating and applying technical knowledge.  Students will leverage their experience and knowledge, in addressing new contracting situations or challenges.  Courses are taught via synchronous training, where an instructor leads online sessions.

Specialized/Advanced Acquisition and Contracting Courses

These courses foster consistent technical competencies and standards, related to the Federal acquisition function.  The delivery method for these offerings is face-to-face instruction.

VA Electronic Contract Management System (eCMS)

This training focuses on VA’s acquisition systems, processes, and procedures, to include eCMS.  FCN 103, eCMS New User Training, is available for registration in the FAI Cornerstone OnDemand (CSOD) and is delivered face-to-face.  Please register and complete the rest of the acquisition system courses in the Talent Management System.
